What I Would be Without You

What would be the purpose of seeing the future without being able to change it’s outcome? What good is seeing if it’s all inevitable? These are the questions we ask ourselves when we are blessed to glimpse the future or at least the immediate present.

In the end is it really the things we see that matter most or how we choose to act on them or react to them? We can tend to be self-serving creatures but in the end what is is it that drives us? Is it power? Is it money? Is it the control over others?

Sight may sometimes not seem like a gift especially when it seems what is meant to be will be. Free will can sometimes seem to be an illusion. And though it is true that outcomes seem unchangeable, our reactions to them can certainly change. We can be better prepared mentally and emotionally, if not spiritually. And so in some ways, by seeing, the outcome has changed. We become ready to receive the gift that is the lesson from the experience. And sometimes that gift is simply knowing that what happened, or will happen is meant for all of us.
